notes about the trip

this trip to prague was made with a friend.

while she liked prague very much, i had mixed feelings about it.  somehow i wasn't as impressed with the place when i was there in person, as i was when i saw pictures in books and postcards.  i like the cultural feel in prague, especially when there are so many music performances going on every night.  wish i attended one of those.

however, the whole area has been developed to be such a tourist spot, that every single inch you go felt like your tourist dollar is being eyed upon.  the intangible/invisible authenticity of an old town seems to have been lost with such commercialisation.

a few days after we arrived home, news broke, that prague was flooded.  the newspapers ran pictures of charles bridge, submerged in the waters.  "we were there, juz a week ago," i thought.  it's a pity, tho i had a feeling that the area will be back to "normal" after a short while.
